Genomics Australia represents a consortium of peak genomics service providers from around Australia offering world-class infrastructure and expertise in genomics, transcriptomics and epigenomics. Genomics Australia builds on the well known capabilities of the Australian Genome Research Facility (AGRF) which specialises in state-of-the-art, high throughput genomic services. The consortium also includes a regional transcriptomics network and incorporates development teams that focus on new research tools, particularly in the area of epigenomics and microarrays.
Genomics Australia has eight partners that together provide the following services:
High throughput, state-of-the-art genomics Genome research and genetic discovery is available for the entire biological spectrum. A full range of accredited services are offered for small and large analysis together with new capabilities in next generation technology for high throughput at faster rates. Service specialities cover:
- next generation gene sequencing
- genotyping/SNP analysis
- gene expression/microarrays
- plant growth
- DNA and RNA extraction.
See the Australian Genome Research Facility (AGRF) for details on services and capabilities.
Transcriptomics Transcriptomics or expression profiling is critical to understanding genes, interpreting their regulatory networks and understanding the pathways involved in biological processes. Transcriptomics examines the expression level of mRNAs in a given cell population. Unlike the genome, the transcriptome is dynamic and can vary with external environmental conditions. Genomics Australia transcriptomics partners offer specialised expertise in isolating and analysing RNA using state-of-the-art sequencing and microarray technology.

Methods and tool development Genomics Australia continually works to ensure its repertoire of genomic services remain on the cutting edge by incorporating new technologies into its suite of services or by enhancing and optimising existing technology platforms and methodologies. Development partners include:
Victorian AgriBiosciences Centre, Latrobe University John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian National University and CSIRO Plant Industry, Canberra.
